Kindle fail; more charity drive progress

Apparently, according to a certain publisher and Amazon's Kindle platform, Some E-Books Are More Equal Than Others. I have never particularly liked or trusted the e-book idea, because relying on electronic storage of cultural works is, in my opinion, a huge mistake. Yes, the e-book reader is a convenient device, especially if one travels, but it is essentially designed to be replaced every couple of years, whereas a book lasts longer. It is also too subject to the vagaries and draconian control of intellectual property law gone horribly wrong.

Read the linked article. It's short, crucial and the last line is a real kick in the teeth.

On a much more optimistic note, the charity drive is still chugging along, giving much-needed funds to deserving organisations. We're less than £5.00 away from £500.00 raised in four days between them, so here are the links again, for anyone who might need them:
